Strategic planning workshop

This workshop is conducted in-house. Duration is five days (initially three
consecutive days with the last two days about a month later) to allow for
thorough facilitation of the process. A maximum of 14 delegates can be
accommodated at a time, with the ideal number between 10 and 12.
Target group
Senior management, decision makers, top level management responsible for
achieving results and continuity of the business. Delivery and content is
adapted to the level and needs of the delegates.
Methodology
Our facilitator uses PowerPoint visual presentations, international best
practice videos, role-play and case studies. The programme is a participative
workshop and focuses on implementation. Feedback on implementation is done in
the form of presentations by delegates. The workshop is facilitated with the
emphasis on practical, hands-on exercises and discussion, working within the
context of the client's business environment.
Objectives & outcomes:
- To build a strategic business framework for the organization; establish
a structure and foundation for the future growth of the business. Strategic
business planning is about deciding on the future you want for your business
and deciding how you intend to obtain business continuity.
- To elevate managers to become leaders, to think and act like leaders by
creating vision and a culture of excellence.
- To do a SWOT analysis (business "check-up") - evaluate Strengths,
Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats - to help delegates plan for the
future and get a gauge of how the business is doing today.
- To develop capable people to ensure the continuity of the business
(training, development and succession planning). Succession planning is the
process of looking long term to ensure that executive and management
positions are occupied by qualified people promoted from within, and that
employees have avenues for promotion.
- To equip delegates to apply management and leadership principles and to
encourage them to plan, lead, organize, control, delegate, direct, motivate,
communicate and make decisions confidently.
- To inform and equip delegates on the application of management functions
and how they relate to the processes of running a business.
- To equip delegates with the practical hands-on skills required to work
with and achieve results through other people.
- To enable delegates to distinguish between leaders, bosses and
followers, and make an influencing difference in their work
environment.
